Default Questions on motor

Well, im new to corvettes. I just sold my 07 gt500 and bought a c5 vette. Not a z06. Anyway. I have some things id like to do first with the car and i dont know whats the best/worst parts like i do with mustangs.

anyway. its completely stock with chrome z06 wheels.

What i want to do this winter is as follows: any input is welcome.

1) LG Pro Long Tube headers - Random Metal Matrix Version 3" cats
2) either corsa tigershark exhaust or granatelli motorsports exhaust
3) snake tongue intake
4) cam, now im not sure how chevy cams work. With mustangs there are sound cams, and then there are performance cams. Are chevy cams both sound and performance or do i chose like the stangs? Anyway, i was looking at getting a cam that will give me a nasty lope while giving me great hp/tq numbers. i dont want to change the heads so id like the best cam without changing the heads
5) lowering springs
6) duckbill spoiler
7) rear fender extentions (not sure what to call them, where can i get them? i remember seeing them on a website but i didnt favorite it)
8) lip
9) Cowl hood
10) wheels, - ccw wheels probobly.

If you the full 3 in headers then you will have to get a 3 in cat back also not a standard 2.5 in, lg sells the big three exhaust that will bolt up and stainless works sell one too
I would recommend a Callaway honker or a VaraRam air intake system as they are the most popular and provide the best bang for your buck.
Also you can buy coil overs for the c5 but they arent cheap but the car has transversely mounted leaf springs and can be lowered from the factory up to about an inch and if you want to go lower than that you can but lowering bolts for about 50$
And I think its L5 motor sports that carries the fender flares.

Like mentioned above (thanks) we offer a full 3" exhaust from collector to tip. Here are some pictures and anyone of our dealers can give you pricing

We offer 1-3/4" or 1-7/8"

3" quad tip axle back with double wall Conical 3.5" tips
(that is not rust, its the color from the robotic tig welds)

If you have any questions, please let me know - and everything is made right here in the U.S.A

Do you offer a 2.5" x-pipe that will bolt up to the factory exhaust or is it all 3".

Its 3", however it will still bolt up to the factory 2.5" 2 bolt flange.

How would that affect the flow being that it is not a smooth transition from 3" to 2.5"

I have the COMPLETE Stainless Works 1 3/4" primary & 3" mid pipe and muffler system on my 02 ZO6. The fit and quality of the system is TOP SHELF. It sounds excellent. This is one of the systems that wont cause in cabin DRONE. Well when you put a wicked cam in the engine & 11:1 compression heads it gets louder and has a very slight bit of drone. Nothing like other systems that make you go deaf.

I also have CCW 505 A's TOP Quality wheels that look KILLER cool. There also RUGGED! My son drove over a curb at 30 MPH. Wheel shop fixed the slight bends in the front rims easily.

Your asking about CAMs. Better also ask about professional TUNING and drive train MODS (Like a CLUTCH and hardened differential output shafts. You’re not going to get the most out of a cam without better heads. You will also need to UP-GRADE the valve springs and push rods at a MINIMUM.

When you do the CAM,, you will most likely want to ditch the OEM damper (they will eventually FAIL) for a better aftermarket damper, up-grade the timing chain to an LS2 chain and consider a Melling oil pump. (the pump isn’t necessary but, mine gives better pressure than the stock ZO6 pump did).

The size of the cam will effect drivability The bigger you go, the more it will effect drivability. Better find a GREAT tuner to make it drive correctly!

I actually have a total of four right now. The one on the car right now is slp loudmouth, I also have slp powerflow, zo6 ti's, and the factory exhaust.
Still a long ways off on getting headers bu im trying to do a lot of research on which ones I am going to go with.

Also another suggestion to the OP, when you get your new wheels you may want to go with non run flats as they give you more performance and have a smoother ride. Plus they are a lot kinder on your wallet.

Gotcha - If you only had the stock system I was going to suggest doing our full 3". But since you have 4 systems already, () the transition from 3" to 2.5" wont be noticeable with a good flowing muffler.

i was also thinking of b&b bullitt mufflers but idk if they come in single tips? Also, i wanna do a cutout system if i do duel tips, one tip is for quiet and other is for obnoxious. is that possible?

The bullets are basically just a pipe that goes over the axle, the do have a very small muffler but a cut out will not do much of anything and would be a waste of money imo.
And yes they do come with single tips and if you want to do a cut out like you are saying its not possible to run it thru on tip because there is not enough room going over the axle for two pipes on each side, you would have to dump it in front of the rear axle.
I personally prefer the slp loudmouth mufflers being that they have quad tips and fill up the entire area at the back of you bumper, I think it looks like something is missing when you just have dual tips back there

as mentioned for lowering, you dont need to change the springs, the stock suspension is adjustable for ride height.

For wheels, I would suggest keeping the 1in rake, 18/19 is pretty popular.

Is it true that Mustang guys (I assume mod motors only) have cams just for their sound characteristics? I can assure you that though Corvettes only have the one camshaft, and it's under the heads, you go for performance, and whatever sound it makes is incidental. Cam choice is one of the most important things you can do (NA) to a LS motor, and you need to know what you're planning on using the car for. Set your goals, and then select your cam.
