I have seen numerous sig's with stock dyno numbers being claimed in the 315 to 325 RWHP range.....then I come to find out that these people had power adders such as a cold air intake, cat back exhausts.....etc. You know, just simple bolt-ons.
In my opinion, if it was altered in anyway from the way it came off of the showroom floor to increase performance, (i.e. E.T. Street tires, CA intake, exhast mods, or whatever), then it is not stock.....
Anybody else feel this way???? Just curious.......
i just posted a thread in this section and ran a 307.? H and 321.? T with an A4. Oh yea I did mention I had two mods so take it easy on me
Vortex and Stinger :seeya
Well, just had my bone stock 99 dynoed last weekend, and she turned in a 282.9hp and 305lbft after 33,000 miles. Figure those numbers should be farely accurate.
It is a 99 A4 G92.
Who cares, even if you post dyno sheets people don't believe you. IMO dyno numbers are for tuning purposes, not bragging. Track numbers are for bragging. The 317 maybe Hp before SAE corrected, my numbers were simular before correction. At my elevation and temp 315 is easy before SAE correction. The correction is simply so we can all compare numbers, but here in Northern California I put down 315 (310SAEcorrected) stock. Put on 7 more with Stinger and havent yet dynoed with Halltech. When I dynoed stock I had different wheels and tires and some susp. mods so I dont know if that counts as stock. I considered stock is with no power adding mods. Any hoo, my point is WHO CARES, dont leave sleep over it. :flag
How could I pull that much more than mgbgt74? Does wheel traction, wieght or tranny effect anything on the dyno?? I know when my first pull was 296, then 304....the tech didnt explain that I was supposed to ram the gas rather than roll on it. When I rammed the gas I got 310. So maybe it is the way the car is driven on the dyno. Also we did some pulls with a fan on the car, is this cheating or standard practice??

I don't really care, but it's kind of annoying.....a stock car is one that comes off off of the showroom floor with ALL MANUFACTURER INSTALLED EQUIPMENT!!!,,,,,no more, no less....you installl a power adder...it's not stock....I just wish some people would get it.....

The fan is standard practice, and every dyno I've seen was done by the owner of the shop (MTI in this case), not by the car owner.....

You weren't one of the ones I was refering too;) Besides, yu have great taste in color.....
The cars were 6 speeds Bruce F had the higher HP one They were the way they left Bowling Green. After the ProFlow, headers and exhuast mine was 335/33+ -
Dyno'd a bunch of C5's a few weeks ago and several 97-01's dyno'd in the 292 to 302 range. Some even had exhaust and intake mods. We had one car that was "professionally MODDED" and they provided him a copy of the dyno when the bill was presented - 331 RWHP. So he's a happy camper - right? On the same dyno we were on 321 RWHP and he had over $2500 of mods. I think 310 and up stock is a VERY LOOSE DYNO.
Dyno's are like accountants. The numbers can be juggled. I was more interested in my a/f ratios.
I agree Quin. Stock means equipped as it came off the assembly line. Also, numbers should be SAE corrected. Mine pulled 352 RWHP uncorrected at MTI on a cold dry day. I'd love to claim those numbers but that would be B.S.
Next thing you know, people will be hacking holes in their fan shroud, bolting on a KN air filter, and calling it a cold air intake system...... :jester :D
When I "stock" dynoed I had no power adders just wheels and susp. mods IYO are my #'s :bs ? My car was not as it was off the show room floor, so I would hate to be a liar.
I thought it was wierd that I was driving the car on the Dyno, but it was fun and a learning experience. I'm glad the fan wasn't cheating I was feeling guilty for a while  ...again...who cares, lets go to the track and have fun!

Who would do such a thing?? :bb :bb
Poboy Racer,

I should have clarified a little further.....I meant power adders, not suspension tweaks......but going to the track with M/T Streets on back and Skinny's up front and then saying "My Stock BLAH BLAH BLAH ran SO AND SO AND SO" to me is :bs ...tires are worth 3 - 5 tenths easily....
