Default thermostat tuning question

changed my thermostat when I replaced the water pump to a vinci 170 degree tstat...from research fans should come on at 194 degrees and turn off at 189 degrees...is this correct? Can you also advance the timing for better performance? If so what does the timing need to be set at?

thanks

You have achieved nothing other than making the engine less heat thermal efficient under part load conditions by performing this work. Under track type conditions on a road or autocross course the engine will operate at much higher temperatures than the range you describe. Any additional timing you would dial in by operating at lower temps serves no purpose under full load track conditions.

You'll have to take the car to a tuner that knows what he's doing man. Buying HP tuners/EFI live is the other way to go if you want to learn to do it yourself.

It's not as simple as just bump the timing..

That's only one of the fans that turns on/off at those temps...the other is on @ 235 off @ 220 I believe..all of it CAN BE adjusted but it's not the type of thing you want to experiment with unless you know what you're doing
