Default MAP sensor

The MAP sendor on my FAST 90 intake leaks/whistles just every now and then.

I can have my local tuners shop fix it for 2 hours labor and new gaskets and rtv.($250)

Is or would there be any issues and or concerns if I waited about a year when these 205 heads will need refreshing???

One forum brother reccomended that I just stick some rtv on the leak however I can't figure out how to do that?? I can't access the leak without pulling the cowl or intake??....I should mention that this a ls2 stroker, I do not know if that is relevant though.

Thanks for your inputs in advance!

Is this a trick question? Do you have any concerns if it gets worse? Do you care if the engine will run poorly.....if the MAP reading is inaccurate due to a leak?

Yes you must pull the intake manifold off--- It s a common issue with an older back mounted MAP to leak or have clearance issues--that's whay fast moved the MAP location to the front of the manifold on the newer ones
On my Fast I had several issues----
1st--the valley cover bolts hit the bottom of the intake and it would NOT seal on the heads--I replaced the bolts with "button allen heads" and it now clears and seals--
2nd-- The MAP sensor had a horribly weak seal on the manifold I had to silicone it in
3rd--- The Map sensor hit the firewall--I had to clearance it out and cut a small hole in the firewall and cover with exh tape to get it not to hit ---

no trick.....I am asking because I don't know......a tuner heard the whistle on the dyno and the car pulled 446 to the wheels on his dyno and sound and pullls like a beast.........simply seeking guidance

Put simply, the PCM uses the MAP to calculate ignition timing, torque management, altitude, etc. If you want all those things to function normally, then the vacuum leak should be corrected. There are many ways to relocate the MAP, without cutting into the firewall....as described above.

LPE has a nice kit to move it to the front EGR location. I installed an elbow in mine and moved it to the side of the intake at the rear, that way I can remove the MAP without removing the intake and it clears the cowl without any issues.

That sounds like a nice innovative mod.
Got any pics? You've always posted nice tutorials on things you've done. Did you already do that on this one?

I posted some photos when I installed it, but my installation is ugly. It works well though. Next time the intake comes off the car I will likely go to the LPE setup that is much cleaner and prefessional looking.
