C5 Vert leak problem solving..pita!!!...
Ok just thought I'd share for those out there experiencing or will be experiencing a C5 vert leak and will have trouble finding out how its getting in....My carpets were soaked from back to front (both sides) after a hard storm one day....got in...wife took off her shoes and said...omg theres about a 1/2 inch of water on the floorboard...anyway there are several ways to identify the leak sources by trial and error as posted in Bill Curlee's Sticky...but if you narrow it down to where the vert top meets the car near the door like I did then this is were its probably coming in....see photos.. The rubber seal shown goes bad and needs to be built up with a little silicon to keep water from rolling in...it travels in, then down the wall behind the seatbelt and pools up at the bottom and works its way forward..It doesnt look pretty but it solves the problem and you wont see it unless you're putting the top up or down....I had to pull the carpets seats and mouldings to narrow this baby down....it pays to pull the carpets because even though I Shop-Vac'd there was still moisture under there.....Hope this helps...
