I have a C5 (98) with 6-speed. I have issue loosing hydraulic system.. No leak on floor or inside car on driver's side on carpet. I have added 9-oz. over about 3-months and driven less than 500 miles. I don't know where to llok for issue.
Yeah, there is some leakage at rear of engine front of trnasmission whcih apparently is the clutch slave cylinder leaking. Tranny has to be removed to change.
Thanks for you feed back and now the joy of tearing out trans. to fix clutch slave cylinder.
What is the upside of the LS7 clutch and the 04 - Z06 hydraulics?
my understanding is all c5z and '01+ coupes have hydraulics with larger orfices to allow more fluid flow to go along with the ls6 clutch, definitely a good upgrade...not sure of your current power or future plans, but the upside of the ls7 is it holds more power/the downside is it is heavier and robs power. It's not as bad a job as it sounds. It's just time consuming. It took me 3 weekends. There are some good websites that describe the process. The manuals make it seem more complicated. I didn't replace the clutch just the master, slave and throw out bearing. $110.00 altogether. A garage would make this easier - I did it under a shade tree.
Speaking from experience, the additional mass of the LS7 flywheel is very noticeable on a 5.7L LS1 and I do not recommend it. I just pulled my LS7 kit in favor of a much lighter ACT and the improvement in acceleration was immediately observed.
yes it will make a car easier to launch(less bog) because it stores more energy, but the extra mass does not accelerate as quickly and is harder on the drivetrain.
