I understand the Rapidfire plugs have a copper core and platinum electrode. I've seen tests on these plugs and it appears they actually do what they claim (i.e. smoother idle and fewer misfires). Does anyone have any experience with them? Does anyone know the recommended plug number and recommended gap? (2000 C5) Thanks!
Ed
I posted this question several months ago and received the same amount of responses you did...NONE!!!
Anyway...I posted it on another Forum and their C5 Tech claimed that using Rapidfire Plugs would not give any benefit over the stock plugs.
That said, he did not say there would be any decline in performance, or negativity on using them.
I have used them before (non-platinum variety...the platinums are new) and I will probably be replacing my stock AC's with these when the time comes.
If you change to them...please post how they work out for you.
I have read where people using Bosch Plus 4's have LOST power (Z06's) and do not believe that you receive much of a plus other than what you would get from using ANY new plug...The plus for the new Platinum Rapidfires would then be, no platinum puck, you stay "stock", and you retain the platinum longevity while getting the copper core performance...sounds like a "win-win" deal. :chevy :seeya
I also used the Rapidfires in my Camaro, a 1996, with good results. I installed them two years and 10,000 miles ago, and The car is still running well.
Thanks, guys. I may give them a whirl. i've read some pretty good things about them and believe they're also very long-lasting due to the platinum electrode tip. Wouldn't have to worry about the pucks falling off, nor changing them anytime in the near future.

The "loss of the pucks" on the stock plugs has me concerned. I had that type of plug in my S-10 "winter truck" for 30,000 miles, and they were OK, however a 4.3 litre V-6 is by no means in the same league with the LS-1 engine.
I tuned up the truck a couple of months ago, and installed the Bosch platinum +4's, and I'm very satisfied with their performance so far. As I mentioned, the "puck deal" has me concerned, so I'm installing a set of the Bosch plugs in me 'Vette also.
Once again, however, I'm totally satisfied with the Rapidfires in my Camaro (LT-1).
