Default Battery minder

When we first got Dave's car down off the piers there was a battery minder on the battery with the cables disconnected.
This may be a dumb question but do the cables have to be off in order to put the battery minder on? I don't want to hurt the computer or anything.
Also if I am going out of town for 10 days should I put the battery minder on or is it for longer term storage?

Thank you guys for always helping me!

Just put a battery tender on it. No need to disconnect the battery. I have been using CTEK tenders. Very good units but a little pricy.

You should be OK for 10 days but something like 3 or 4 weeks would likely leave it dead or getting close to dead.

If the car is in a garage, personally I would leave it unlocked and not put on the tender.

you can also get an adapter so you can hook up through your cigarette
ligter port.
C5's eat batteries, I have mine hooked to my battery tender whenever its parked in my garage.

I did that until two Deltran Battery Tenders went up in smoke. I no longer take that approach. I also don't use the Deltran Battery Tender any more.

Hi!

Hope things are going well!

When we took the car off the piers, Dave had a tender connected to the battery (don't know what brand, but it obviously worked fine!)

The battery was fully connected at the time. All I had to do was disconnect the charger and the "Z" was ready to go.

Luck to ya!

Still here if ya have Q's.

B

Oh...I thought the battery was disconnected...ok thanks BAMVETTE. I'm driving the car on the weekends and having a blast with it. I really feel Dave with me on those rides and it feels great! Everything is going good.
Thanks for the post! I feel better about putting the minder back on now. appreciate it.

Hi Carolyn!

Glad you're driving and enjoying the car!

I remember the battery being fully connected, and snaking the tender cables out from where Dave had routed them. It's possible I'm not remembering correctly though, but I have replayed the procedure in my mind repeatedly. If you're sure about it being disconnected, I'd trust that.

Good news is, from my research you can do it either way with no harm done to any of the Z's components. Personal preference.

@ you......and Dave!
