I purchased a salvaged 02 Z06 with left side collision damage from World Wide Salvage a few months ago. The car was advertised as "Lot Drives" however the engine will not turn even with a wrench on the crank bolt. When it arrived there was no oil in it and a crack in the oil pan cover. I removed and replaced the oil pan cover. What oil was left was clean and smelled fine. I have removed the starter, all acc. drive belts and the spark plugs so far but the engine still will not turn. Any thoughts? My main question is if I need to remove the engine is there any way I can do it out the top? The manual show taking everything out the bottom but I don't have a car lift to do that.
The motor can be pulled from the top with a common cherry picker.
Have you tried turning the motor over with the starter? (I wouldn't try turning over with starter installed, could snap off the area where starter mounts to.)
Try pulling the rockers.
Have the car up in the air enough, where you can get a long handle breaker bar with a 15/16 socket on the crank.

Thanks
If the engine is still in the car, maybe the TORQUE TUBE TUNNEL TOOK A HARD HIT TOO AND IS BENT.
The New C5 and C6 generation Corvettes has the transmission in the rear of the car along with the rear differential.
The internal solid steel shaft inside of the enclosed Torque Tube Tunnel assembly Turns all the time with the engine flywheel while the engine is running.
Any damage to the Torque Tube, and the engine wont turn over easily by hand or with the starter motor.
I haven't looked at the torque tube yet. I currently have a breaker bar on the crank damper bolt and the engine won't rotate even a fraction in either direction. On a side note beware of dishonest transport drivers. This car was driven on to the truck but at some point apparently the driver took it for a joy ride and crashed it again. Of course he says he knows nothing and won't do anything. Live and learn.
Sounds like the oil pan cover was cracked in 1st crash, the dumbass driver took it for his joyride and ran it out of oil, motor seized due to oil starvation.

Good luck. You're going to need it........
I think all the pieces of the puzzle are coming together!
yes unfortunately even the big name carriers(Reliable Carriers) have dumb *** drivers, they chained down one of my cars and bent the frame rail, he said I guess I should have used straps
I got the exhaust and the tunnel cover off and both the bell housing and the torque tube housing are broken locking up the engine. It appears that the truck driver crashed the car causing all this additional damage. Of course he says he knows nothing. I think the pan got cracked at the same time so I don't think the engine ever ran with out oil. Little consolation considering all the other damage he did.
