I often read that the stock TB is 78mm. If you measure the rear bore of the TB I believe it is 78mm. However, the stock TB does not measure 78mm all the way through. I believe that the stock TB is actually considered to be 75mm. The LS6 (actually all corvettes 2002+ (maybe its 2001+) have the same intake) and the LS1 have a 78mm bore.

Good info, but I am curious about the opening of the actual intake manifold.
I see all these TB's 80mm and larger and wonder if the intake would support them.
I will probably get curious enough tonight and remove the TB and measure. lol

I'm almost positive that the opening is 78mm. The BBK 80mm TB comes with a thin spacer, which is really a reducer to bring the TB bore back down to the intake opening size. Always thought that was an absolute waste.
