Default Design this cam !

Help me design a camshaft. I have an '01 coupe with an automatic transmission with the modifications listed below.

VaraRam B2 cold air intake
VaraRam Power Duct
Relocated and descreened MAF
90 mm TPIS throttlebody
TPIS modified LS6 intake manifold
LS6 / Z06 heads milled .015" for 11:1 compression ratio, heavy springs
1 3/4" long-tube headers
no cats
Borla Stinger cat-back exhaust
Z06 3.42 rear end gears
automatic transmission

I want to install a cam next.
I want good low and mid-range torque.
Not so much high RPM. 6500 or so?
Willing to build bullet-proof as far as rockers, pushrods, gear, chain, oil pump, ect.

Want fun tire smoker for street and autocrossing.
Give me your ideas for ideal duration, lift, lobe separation for the cam.
Open to ideas for related parts.
What is your experience and outcome?

Lets see what we can build.

Thanks

Roger T

There certainly isn't anything unique about your build. Is there no off the shelf cam that will suit your needs? .....just wondering.

I'd say somewhere between a 214-218 117lsa and a 248-256 109lsa.

Go to someone who knows cams and tell them your setup and goals. Let them spec a cam just for you.

Shawn at VA Speed does some great cams.

Give me a call and we'll get a cam speced for your needs and take all the guessing out of it.

Since only a few are actually giving you what you are asking, for what you described I would put in a cam with specs similar to this

228/228 duration .595/.595 on a 114 LSA and with an underdrive pulley, a stall around the 2200 range and a nice Meziere you will have a reliable, powerful, street/track terror! It would breathe at least 430-450 RWHP

Oh yeah, it has been done many times I'm sure. My personal fav for a general STREET/STRIP/ TRACK Vette/TA/Camaro running all motor would be around a 230/230 .595/.595 on a 111 LSA Turns a mellow 346ci into a wicked sounding drag car with accompanying sound to match!!

BE CAREFUL and MEASURE for PTV clearances due to your milled heads and choose a duration no more than the 228 -230 suggested.

I have pretty much the same mods you have (all of them. LOL) I went with a 224/230 .585/.595 113 LSA. It has plenty of low end torque. It has a nice "lopey" sound, and it put down 416 rwhp and 392 rwtq on a loaded Mustang Dyno.

Default Thanks

Thank you to you all who responded to my asking for help.
Yes, I realise I can just call a camshaft company and they can sell one to me. However, I am hoping to draw from the experience of you who have been this route before. Real world results from you. I am going through the learning curve, here.

Thank you, again.
