need to take the fuel door into the paint shop to get a paint match. I removed the cap retaining strap and removed the 7mm bolt that is visible when the door is open...what am I missing to remove...and where is it?

Once you remove the screws you have to pull hard and wiggle the assembly to get it past the filler pipe...it is tricky...I've done it a few times and it is never the same each time. Reinstalling is easiest if you put the far screw on the end of a magnetic screwdriver.

Glad you got it finally..just a tip for anyone wanting to take a part for paint match. It would be way easier to take your front filler plate if you live in a no plate state, or one of your headlight covers.

Hi got it off, wanted to make sure I didn't get stuck.

Basically take off the screw deep inside as you look to the left with the fuel door open.

Then take off all the other screws surrounding the opening to make it easier. Now twist and get the fuel door to break loose and wiggle it out of place.

I am guessing everyone doing the fuel door mod puts back their gas cap for pressurization.

I used the first screw mentioned to hold the gas cap anchor down. Not sure if that will work with the breathless setup once pumping gas, will let you know soon.

Thanks guys.

yes, put the cap back on so you don't drop a screw into the tank!
