Q: X pipe placement?

Q: X pipe placement?
Hello!
I am about to order a pair of headers for my c5.
Some questions pops up thou.
First thing, as I have noticed, an X-pipe is a must apparently.
But what about the placement?
When I look at Lg Longtubes they all have the X pipe far back in the system. And they should "make the most Hp/Tq".
And then you have Xs power who have placed the X pipe right after the headers.
What would be the biggest difference? If there are any?
Second, does anyone use "Exhaust Manifold Header Bandage".
For what I have been told its only pros, lesser temp in the enginge compartment, faster evacuation of the exhaustgas and so on, and so on, is this in anyway true? Have seen lots of "imports using this for there headers and turbomanifolds, but never on a corvette?
I hope that made some sens
Thanks in advance for any replays.

Le Mans Master
x pipe near the collectors improves scavaging
The x pipe placement does not improve the header quality or design.

for street driving it makes no difference. for full time racing, put it back as far as possible.
then there is the x-pipe design. the smoother the flow of the actual pipe, like LGs, or Random Techs, and a few others the better. an abrupt X pipe design may not help performance.
The few the bends the better the exhuast flow.
