Default Speedo droppiing to zero under 25 mph???

For some reason my speedo doesnt come up when I take off from a stop until around 20 mph, then when decelerating when I get around 25 it drops down to 0 mph. It kind of bounces a little bit.

I hit a rock/dirt clod combo this morning...it didn't f up my tire and I don't think it bent my rim as I got no vibration or pulling between 50-100 mph.....but I'm wondering if it might of screwed up the passenger side wheel sensor.

Where does the speedo get it's imput from? With mechanical speedos they start to kind of bounce and seek when the teeth or cable is going bad.

How does the speedo work in a C5 and what would cause it to do this?

Thanks

The speedo gets it's input from the speed sensor located on the top passenger side of the differential. It's relatively inexpensive part and easy enough to change out. (As long as your good at working by feel) Stick in a new one and see if that doesn't fix the problem.

Thanks buddy. Most of the work I have had to do on this car both with and without a lift is by feel. lol.

Now let me ask this. My rear dif has been through hell.....quite a few dyno runs with the blower. Bill Reid total me about 100 runs on the dyno during the development of the TTi kit, and quite a few runs up to 850 rear hp on a couple of different dynos..one load dyno.

It seems like I have a little slop in my dif or driveline...I'm wondering if that could be causing it now too because it's when I give the gas that the load gets put on the driveline and dif...takes up the slack so to speak.

But I will try the simplest least expensive thing first like I always do when it comes to this stuff....it's just normally it's not. lol.

Dyno runs usually aren't as tough on a differential as say an equal amount of passes down the drag strip, but it's Corvette sensor so who knows how touchy it might be. Good luck.

Certainly as the main reason I haven't taken this car to the strip..had enough fun there on the track with my 97'. I have however launched it hard on back country roads. The 335/18 Proxes RA1s get pretty sticky and will hold most of 3rd and all of 4th...I can always tell when the weight transfers from front to back and I can feel/see the front end come up as the rear squats.

I will check that sensor though...appreciate the tip.
