Looking at installing plugs on a stock motor.
I have been getting a little detination since the car was new. I was told that the TR6 was the way to go with this problem otherwise go with the TR55.
Any input ?
Also : What should I gap either one of these plugs at ?
Anthony,
I am dumb as a stump on this issue, but I will tell you a well respected C5 tech said NO WAY on the 55's in any C5 he would own.......so, take that for what it's worth. :D

Did he say why?? many owners here use them
IMHO If you are having detonation problems a colder plug will just cover up a bigger problem. It is also possible that your platinum pucks have fallen off and increased your gap enough to cause problems. Get some TR-55s and gap them at the stock gap or a little less and see if that fixes it. If not you have another problem that you should fix not cover up
Let me back up. The only time this car will detonate is "sometimes" in the summer when its humid and really hot here in TX. I do not believe there is a problem here.
I am still unclear on which plug to pick. A guy at the track that was running crazy times with his stock SS told me about the TR6's gapped at .45, otherwise I would have already purchased the 55's.
Thanks for the input !

Anthony I have the TR6's in mine with no NOS or blower, and have no probs. Gapped at .035 due to using the Nology wires. Otherwise I would gap these plugs at .043.
Greenbeast is right. There isn't a noticeable diff in the two plugs. However, I do a lot of highway/high speed driving and found that the 55's showed signs of heat stress. TR6 being a shade colder, haven't had this problem. Using the Taylor wires I would gap at .043. Just my opinion.
Yea, I had a long talk with the owner of LS1 Motorsports. He spends hours and hours at the track in vettes and Z28's. He said that the TR6 was the way to go. He said that they have actually seen a few more miles per hour at the track with these plugs in stock heads compared to the T55. He got really technical with me, far too tech. for me to explain the reasons to go with a colder plug. But your explanation above was a part of it.
So all and all I ordered the Taylor 10.4mm Wires and the TR6's. Im sure that when its all said and done it really does not make any difference which quality plug you use.
