I'm getting my stuff together to make the first oil change on my car and......
Is it me or does the PF 44 ACDelco filter seem alittle small? We are trying to filter 6.5 quarts of oil, and and extended drain period on top of that. They say the oil can last up to 10,000 miles between drains. I don't disagree, but I don't think the filter can handle 2000 miles. The filter looks like a lawn mower filter. Do I have the wrong one? I hope so...........

Re: PF44? (BarryR)
Barry is right, the UPF 44 offers better filtration. We recommend that you change your oil filter when the DIC says that you are at 50% oil life. The oil still has plenty of "good" left in it but this technique keeps the oil cleaner. Plus a UPF is less than $15. you'll need to add a 1/2 quart of oil too.
I was under the impression that they (AC Delco) had brought it back because of our compaining????
This is correct. Shawn at LAPD sells them by the case. Bob @ Fichtner Chevrolet sells them individually (might as well buy a couple...) but are currently out. They are pretty hard to find right now... I guess a good substitute if you don't want to use the PF44 is the Mobile 1 filter?
I use the Mobile 1 Filter, M1-107 I think... its a high-end filter usually $8-12. Everyone has an opinion, but I think its just as good or better than the "Gold" Delco one.
Some Fbody owner use a larger volume filter, the one for trucks, if your concerned about the volume.
You might consider using UPF-44 filter. I think its the same size but has better filtering ability (8-10 microns vs 25-40).
I finally went to the PF-44 when I couldn't find anymore UPF-44's. Now I see that LAPD has some some maybe there's some hope after my current ones. I usually change around 30% on the DIC---which is around 5K miles.
