I am asking this only because there r a lot smarter vette guys on here than myself, so I am seeking your expert advise. My Low Oil level light comes on at random, I reset it and it usually comes on later and is rather consistant. I know my oil level is ok so it doesn't bother me, just annoying. Is this a hard fix and can you guys give me some direction on this. Sensor, or is there a line/connector I should look at. I know someone asked this earlier but I do not recall the answer, did a search but not getting what I need.
Thanks
I have this problem about every third time I park with the nose lower than the rest of the car, but after the next day of parking with front higher than rear it goes away. try parking with front higher than rear to see if it stops doing it, I don't know why but it happens often with mine and the oil is on the full mark. good luck

I've had the same occurance under those same conditions.
Thats not my problem, always flat here in Dallas. It happens at random while I am driving down the freeway (flat), I park on flat areas. The only time it has been up lately was when the guy replaced my AC line a little over a week ago. But, it was doing this before he worked on it. Anyway,robsc501, thanks for the thread, that was exactly the one I was looking for!
Will try to look at it this weekend.
What do you mean your oil level is "OK"?? Ok to me means it may be low but it will live I may need to add some here shortly. Also what year is your vette?
this is a problem ive never heard of before i ran an oil change shop (jiffy lube) for about 5 years and when the low oil warning light comes on a c5 vette is about 1 and a half qts low on oil also the c5 dipstick is quite hard to read if you are new to checking oil

If you are sure the oil level is correct, add one extra quart, normally done for track use. If the sensor works fine with this amount of oil your sensor is good. If not, it needs to be replaced. The current part number is 12603782. Keep in mind that there have been over 8 superseded versions of the sensor. That could be a sign that they are not quite as robust as it should be.
I can read a ds. It's full , to the line. Been that way since the oil change 3 months ago.
The light light has only done this the past few weeks. Oil level has not changed and it's full to the line and I check it the same way every time p
not sure adding more oil when it's full is a good idea. I don' t race it.

Well, I'm glad you KNOW how to read the dip . If you read your owner's manual you would know that adding an extra quart above the full mark is safe and a recommend procedure when high lateral loads, like tracking are expected. Hey, good luck with your issue!
I understand that, just don't use the car that way. I would have thought from my past car experiences over is just as bad as under? Guess not, learned something new.
Actually, I do have a downloaded manual for my 99, and it says nothing about overfilling it, and actually just the opposite, than I saw where someone posted from their manual saying it was ok? Maybe something with the years?
Thanks again
