Im sorry but I disagree. It is scary and is a BIG problem to me if you have it.
Price on a 94 z and a vette are pretty far apart.
The piston slap noise you are hearing is actually friction that should not be there. we all know what friction does.
I will quote someone else post regarding this...
"to whoever says that a piston slap is normal is full of poopie. as an ex caddy tech (12yrs)believe me if this was a caddy making this noise they would have fixed ALL of them.the nstaris all aluminum w/short skirted pistons and it does not knock. btw a machine builds your motor not a person and the machine does not care if the pistons era to small or the bore is to big. caddys had a oil consumption problem with the nstar and it turned out that the machine that pushed in the valve guides was slightly scratching the bore on the OUTSIDE of the valve guide on 2 cyl(intake on both) wich caused a big oil consumption problem! and you could not even see the problem if you took the valve springs out of the way!!! so they can fix it they just dont want to. f@#k the customers save some money tell them its normal.. let slp or any other sponsers on this board sell a motor that mde that mch noise or sounded like that and they would QUICKLY be out of buesness."
"i've read threads here and and on cz28.com regarding this problem and couple of guys who had their engines opened reported that the cylinders were overbored.
most common is #1 and i read that #2 was overbored too in 1-2 cases. this is obviously the factory mistake! "
