Default ABS/TCS Repair

I finally fixed my ABS/TCS problem.... Whoo hoo! Like many (I'm sure) I ended up with the dreaded C1214 error. Looking over the forum, I found someone had a thread on this and decided to do this myself. I had the EBCM rebuilt by ABSfixer. If anyone has this problem and wants to DIY there is good info on how to remove and have the EBCM rebuilt. I went with ABSfixer to rebuild (see ABSfixer.com) as it was mentioned in the thread I found here. You just gotta love CF for all the good information you get here. Thanks to everyone!

Anyway I just have one tip to add to the re-install of the EBCM. A lot of info you get will tell you how to remove, with great photos and everything, but at the end will say "to install just follow the procedure in reverse order". Removal is always easier than install.

So my tip is: for the middle 2 screws (of the six) that hold the EBCM module onto the ABS manifold, use tape to hold them in place before you slide the module back on. There are indents in the module that make the install of the (middle) screws almost impossible to see and to get started by hand once you have slid the module in place. These indents do make it easy to apply tape and hold the screw. So while the EBCM is in your hand, get the (2 middle) screws just through the holes on the EBCM module. Use tape (scotch tape worked for me) and tape across the indent while also letting the tape hold the screws in place. Slide the module into place (on the ABS manifold), and then carefully find the screw head with the screwdriver/torx. It is a blind shot at these screws. I was able to start both screws and then tighten with out them falling and frustrating the job. The two bottom screws holes can be felt (not seen) to start them, but once you feel around and get the screws started by hand, you can see the screw heads and your on your way. The top (2) screws are the easiest of all and go easy. The tape removes easy.

So probably everyone would have thought of this already. I just wanted to add to the info that we get here. Thanks CF. One gremlin down.
