Interior lights do not come on when the driver door is opened. But they do come on when the passenger door is opened. This post is for a new brother to the forum. I told him I would put it out there and you will help him, or give him options. He has only had his vette for a very short time. Just trying to help a brother out.
wow, thanks Leah. i reckon, to add a few more specifics, the car basically don't recognize that the driver's door opens. no interior lights, no "door ajar", no flashing security light, and the radio stays on. everything works with the passenger door & trunk lid. also, on the driver's door, the "lock" button don't work either - all others are good.
this is on a 2000 FRC. any help y'all could provide would be much appreciated.
I told ZEBRA that you guys would have a answer for him or at least make a few suggestions to help ?? Where is all that knowlege?? I cant believe no replies , how is a new brother going to learn from his big brothers if there is no help?
You may have a couple of problems going on at the same time so we need to break it down and do some tests. First off swap out the passenger door control module with the driver's side (it is a little black box just inside the door panel with several wiring connectiors plugged into it). See if door lock problem travels to the other door or not. Then check to see if the door chime and radio shuts off when the drivers door is opened. This will eleminate or confrim the door control module. You may have a faulty door sensor switch that senses weather the door is open or closed. Lastly, pull back the black acordian boot in the door jamb area and disconnect and inspect the wiring connector there for burnt or loose pins or exosed wires going into the connector. Let me know how it goes.
check out the Sticky "IMPORTANT ELECTRICAL INFORMATION (Long!)"
before you start swapping out components .... you want to check out ground post G201 ... its located down in the corner of the door jam ... it gets wet and everything on that side of the car grounds to it.
Scroll thru the Sticky and towards the end you will find posts on this
