Vig 2800 stall not locking up ??
I have been researching on line all night, can't seem to find any info

car is a 97 C5.
already had LS6 intake, Halltech, LG headers, BB exhaust.
just had the following installed:
224/228 114+4
Patriot LS6 stage II
LS7 lifters
Katech oil pump
double roller chain
u/d pulley
HD tranny rebuild, billet servo, wider bands, planetary gear,
transgo shift kit
tranny cooler
Vig 2800 stall.
Tune
motor runs strong, issue is the converter won't stay in lock up on hwy,
seems to jump in and out at 70 MPH, stays more consistent at 85 MPH.
tranny was removed and everything checked out OK.
installer and Tuner took car for data logging, seems car is throwing "C" codes, once they are cleared car will lock right up. Codes come back and comes out of lock up.
They have ruled out the new stall, thinking it could be in the BCM ?
all research i can find says it does control the lock up.
i don't have the codes, just looking for advice.
I know I can order up a new BCM from Gene C if needed. just not sure if that is the issue ? they are working diligently away on sorting the car out and getting my baby back on the road. Just thought i would do some of my own research so I can sleep tonight

Comments.
thx
Call Greg Ducatto with Phoenix Transmisson. He is, bar none the best trans guy I have ever dealt with and more than willing to help those in need with technical information even if he did not build your trans. He specializes in high performance automatics. His contact information is as follows: 817-599-7680 or www.phoenixtrans.com
He is located in Weatherford, TX which is just a little west of the Dallas/Ft.Worth, TX area. I know him personally from the SSR Forum.
The first assumption as noted above would be misfire codes, but we can't tell you for sure without you finding out what the codes are.

Setting the P0300 misfire code to no error reported in the tune is not the correct way, you need to max the idle & low rpm misfire tables. And set the P0300 code back to stock.

Would insufficient 02 switching codes set this off? The car has LG street headers.

This is on a steady state cruise on the HWY.
As for the insufficient O2 codes, just set them to no error reported, common problem with long tube headers.

A couple comments-----Why do a shift kit on a computer controlled trans ?? I have seen so many transmissions go south beacuse of shift kits on a computer tranny---typically shift kits will just increase line pressure to the point where something always goes wrong or seals start failing---With a shift kit you can try taking out all the tq mgmt---Set the Trans pressures in the tune back to stock---set all the "shift times " to "0" (puts it in adapt learning mode)
Also ANY misfire whether real or false will unlock the converter---
AND anytime you touch the brake pedal the conv will unlock---check the brake light switch--
thanks for all the suggestions, the guys have worked hard and traced the lock up issue down to a bad wire from the TC to the EBCM. Seems there was a bad comnnection and the resistance was droping the voltage signal down, giving false readings

Now that issue is resolved, the car has 140 test miles and nothing but solid lock up.
I am curious with all the comments about the shift kit with a computer controlled tranny. There really seems to be 2 divided schools of thought. The car does have a wicked 1-2 hard shift. My tuner will be reducing the line pressures and playing with the TQ management to smooth things out.
Thanks again for the help,
Corey
Arun & Jr are never satisfied until the car runs as expected. He will be droping in a new tune early next week to smooth the shift hardness out.
Hoping to the hit the Dyno also before the white stuff flies
A tuner can make any computer controlled trans shift hard and bark the tires in 2nd-- maybe evn 3rd-- But do it electronically-- The key is you still have the ability to re-adjust the trans if its too violent or harshen it up--- or return to stock
Most shift kits will make these fine tuning parameters not availiable and you get what you get---all they now can do is try to lower trans pressures --but since the trans was mechanically altered--it typically doesn't respond to computer tuning
You have to be very careful with a C5 with approx 400 RWHP---If you shift it too violently at the 1-2 WOT shift---it will break the tires loose badly and pitch the car sideways--Only thing now is you're go 60 MPH--sideways and WOT !!!! don't care if you're Mario Andretti--you're not gonna catch it----
