I'm going to be doing my own oil changes and going to stick with Mobil1. My question is what is the difference between the regular Mobil 1, high milage and extended performance? My 02 has 70K miles on it and was wondering if I should switch to the high milage oil or just stick to the regular formula.
Your best bet is to go to Mobil's website and look up the info on the oils you're interested in.
My basic understanding though, is that the EP has a "better" additive package. My thought is, my owners manual suggests Mobil 1 and a change interval of 1 year or 15k miles, but they do not specify in the manual to use Mobil 1 EP. Hmmm, is it really that much different??? Dunno, but the cost is very similar so I use the EP stuff.
The High Mileage, from my understanding, contains "seal conditioners" that help with old seals.
I'm sure there is more to it than this, but thats what the Manufacturer's website is for.

Mobile 1 EP & High Mileage do not list the GM 4718M spec, standard Mobile 1 does

If there was ONE oil that was superior to all the others then EVERYONE would be using that one brand oil because the tests would show it superior to all the others.
There isnt....
Use whatever makes you happy.

I do personally feel more comfortable if it meets the GM 4718M spec, but beyond that I think the main concern should be changing at the recommended intervals from the factory and you're good

Probably not.... it has been proven time and time again you can go by the OLM yet we have people who change their oil every 3000 miles...
