Well, I have this broken differential from my '03 Z06 and I'm just wondering if it's worth anything. The internals are all ok but the case is all broken and cracked. I dont really wanna just throw it away and it would be nice to recoup a few bucks from what I had to pay for a new one. Maybe somebody knows if the internals can be swapped into something else. I have a older Chevy pickup, that it would be cool if I could take the posi out and switch it.
The iternal parts can be reused in a PINCH. I have NO idea what the parts are worth. The case is what people need. What figure you come up with is what will make a sale. It will not be much but better than nothing.
Just put a price on all the parts and go for it. Adjust if necessary.

What's so funny about that? GM uses the same parts for everything over several generations throughout many models. Do you really thing GM would invent a new rear end merely for the corvette? Of course not. Hell, if I wanted to I could take the engine and tranny out of my truck and drop it straight down in my vette with no problems, minus the big truck intake on the 5.3. And gee, just imagine if the 4l60E was ever put into anything other than a vette. That being said, I'm sure the third member would come out and go into another housing in a different vehicle.
So in the future, if you dont have anything helpful to say, keep you stupidity to yourself!

The C5 diff ring and pinion gears are Corvette specific. It will NOT fit into any other vehicle. Have a look for yourself.
What I'd really like to know is how you broke the case and the gears are still good?
I have seen about 1/2 dozen trans/diffs broken and didn't hurt the gears. When high power cars apply power and the passenger side cover can't take the side load, it either breaks the side cover and/or case or both.

You all keep playing right into her hands. Clearly the number of members she has offened is something that feeds her insecurity issues. Every forum has one.
I'm guessing you probably won't get much. Even if someone did want used internals, they'd have a helluva time finding an installer willing to put them in... I'm not an expert, but my understanding is that getting used ring and pinion gears seated properly with no gear whine is pretty close to impossible...

You do know that your truck does not have an IRS....right?
1BADGTM & RAGTOPWS6, Maybe you guys have seen blown cases where the gears survived but I never have!
They may look OK to a quick inspection but it's the spreading forces of the gears that ruin the gear profiles.
Just 1 hit on 1 tooth and the gearset is scrap, if the side cover breaks the ring gear is unsupported and it will trash the gearset.
Again they may look OK and you can rebuild with a new housing but it will not be right.

Good point and if you read my post, I stated I have seem them not damaged but didn't say I use them.
I do recommed to the customers to replace them even though they LOOK ok. If they want to take a chance and use them I tell them "do you really want me to set it up and have you install it to find out you have issues or noises?" They usually tell me to install a new set of gears then..........

lol, don't take the chance, unless you enjoy the R&R of the entire rear drivetrain/suspension
