Default Another Borla Stinger installed... impressions inside

Hey folks. Shawn @ LAPD got my Borla Stinger to me today. He shipped it 3PM my time on monday and it was at my door 20 hours later... amazing. Very good experience with Shawn, great guy :yesnod:  :D

Anyways, about the Stinger. My dealership couldn't install them until Thursday and I will be out of town then. I didn't want to wait that long anyways. So, I had my father (with an SUV :D) follow me down to my local Midas to get it installed. I called them before I came and they reserved their drive on lift, nice guys. They got the stock system off easily, had to drop the sway bar to get it off in one piece. Borla went on in about 10 minutes after that. $80 and I was out the door (too much? who cares :D)...

The sound of the system is VERY deep (oh yeah, car info: 2002 Coupe 6-speed). When I fired it up, I thought I may have made a mistake. After about 30 minutes with it, I was in love. It is loud... not obnoxious or too much. No resonance. The thing would scare the hell out of a Viper... when you punch it after 3,000 rpms, it SCREAMS.... very loud rumble :yesnod: :smash:  :D

Cruising around town "normally" the system is relatively quiet (i.e. just puttering along at 2,000 rpms). But right when you get on it, it howls. Like I said, very low, deep V8 rumble. I love this system... it is just right :D

Don't freak out about my "I may have made a mistake" comment, I just needed to get used to the system. A CD at relatively low volume isn't an issue, you can hear it just fine. Those of you who are still waiting for theirs, just take it easy, the wait is worth it.

CONSENSUS: The Borla Stinger is bad a $ $. I love it. By FAR THE BEST system I have heard.

I will try and get some sound clips up if you guys want them... there are some floating around though! Take care folks and again, thank you Shawn @ LAPD and thank you Borla (even though they are slow as hell) for making one mean sounding exhaust  :D :smash: :jester

Patrick

I also love my Stingers. It's amazing how much the tone differs from low rpm's to high rpm's. When i'm in 6th i can't even tell i have aftermarket exhaust on but once i pounce the throttle it sounds like a race car. Man, if only i was back in NY to go through the Battery Tunnel :D

You hit the nail on the head :yesnod: I went from a great system called the Corsa Indy's and I have finally found my new love in exhaust notes

I got mine on yesterday too! the popping isn't bad, but I can see where some people my not like it. I've been told that the x-pipe eliminates that.

It won't really add any popping, but it will magnify any popping you already had. I had popping before with my Corsa Indys, even with the x-pipe, because of my heads/cam. Now, the popping is even louder, but I don't think it added any new popping. But, I love the popping, so I'm happy. :D

I'll do that today...

In regards to the popping, I didn't notice new popping. The popping, though, is much louder. I like it but may add an x-pipe. For example, I had my dad drive the car past my house and down the street. This is a very busy street, not a residential street. When he got to his turnaround point two blocks away I could here the popping.

Like I said, the popping sounds pretty good. It comes on the same time (when decelerating)... it is just louder. I will get my friends digital camera today!

 I went first with the Corsa Indy's but got tired of the soud from my headers, sounded like a harley. Then i went to the magna flow...great system but was too quiet. Then i went with the B&B PRT and absolutely loved them, they were loud, but that good loud. Then i came across the stinger when a friend of mine had borla make the prototype header and exhaust on his car and I had to have it. The soud is better than anything ive experienced thus far and am extremely happy with my choice. Enjoy your new exhaust!!!

Default stinger installation questions

Was all the hardware included in the package? Like misc bolts, gaskets, etc? I haven't opened the box yet, just trying to find out if I will need to pick up any misc. hardware before I start the install.

Thanks,
Brian

c5bri,

Got mine from the UPS guy a few hours ago - looks like it has all the bolts, gaskets etc. needed for the install.

It had everything needed... band clamps, gaskets, warrenty and a Borla sticker. No instructions though, just a parts diagram. :)
