I have Borla Stinger and like them. My last car was a 383 stroker with the Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust. Now that was loud, the Borlas are no where that loud. I love the sound on acceleration and the drone really goes away above 65 mph. Mines not a DD and the longest drive I have been on was 3 hours and I had no problems. But to each his own, I like the deep rumbling sound.

What was the rest of your exhaust configuration?

Part of the difference in the sound of your buddie's car, is the fact that it's a H/C modified motor. This will increase/change the sound quite a bit. As far as the drone goes, I did Stingers when the rest of my system was stock. That seems like a long time ago. Anyway, the "drone" is a resonance around 1500-1800 rpms, that on my car, at least, vibrated the plastic tub in the trunk area. This caused a light moaning sound, especially under load, at low RPMs. This is what I call "the drone". In my experience, adding a partition didn't help much.

GHL Bullets. Deep sound, and no drone.
I have intake/heads/cam/LG Pro's+cats/GHL Bullets.
I have a sound partition in my Z06...

I tried
1.) B&B Bullets (Drone so bad my door panels were vibrating)
2.) Corsa Touring (Too high pitched/not loud enough at idle)
3.) Z06 Ti's (Too quiet overall)
4.) GHL Bullets... Just right...

GHL Bullets are by far the best sounding exhaust I have heard.

GHL's only get better ones you start to add headers, heads, cam etc... Deep and no drone.... No downsides I can find.

My 99 in my sig....

I had the borla stingers and had to get rid of them do to drone. I tired different things like a x-pipe, rear cab sound insualtion, etc, but got sick of getting headaches.....I then got the GHL Bullets. They do sound great like the borlas, but do have LESS drone that is tolerable. If you want completely no drone then go with the stock TI systems or Corsa if you something not too loud.......

Good luck.......I would say take the risk and get the GHLs....

I've been looking at the GHL's pretty heavy lately and I think i'm going to end up going that route. They seem to be the perfect blend. Anytime I heard bullets being mentioned I assumed people ment the B&B bullets and I knew that those were too loud for me. Now after extensive research i've learned the there is two different bullets. GHL it is
