Default tranny issues?

I have an '01 Z06 with a 1 thick-so think 2 regular washers- anti venom mod, b&m shifter, and textralia clutch... Since the anti venom mod, it's been popping out of 2nd and 6th gears, when it didn't do so before. I've read some on here running 3 washers, no problem.

Before and after the anti venom mod, it sometimes grinds 4th gear with the clutch fully pushed in-has done so to 3 different drivers, so it's not just me. Above a certain RMP (say about 6k) it will not go into 3rd gear-again, not just me.

The transmission has over 100,000 miles now. Is changing the trans fluid going to get me anywhere, or do I have bigger issues? (Such as needing a trans rebuild)

Sounds like your synchros are taking a crap. I'm no trans expert but I think you may be headed to a town I like to call rebuildville.

With 100,000 miles, The plastic fork pads are probably broken causing the issues. The blocking rings are at the end of its life also. I would say a rebuild is in order. RPM Transmissions isn't too far away from you.

fwiw, i took the washer out and it's still popping out of gear. it makes us look like we just can't drive, but the trans sucks. i hate thinking about a rebuild, but a 100,000 mile tranny with 600whp just doesn't seem to be working.

i'm her husband btw

Stab in the dark but perhaps the shifter has moved slightly since it's both 2nd and 6th (same side of the shift pattern). Maybe a simple shifter alignment will solve the problem? Worth a try...

Listen to ragtopws6! Expert in the field! Your tranny needs surgical asistance. Consider a used tranny with less miles from a trusted vendor OR rebuild what you have from a trusted vendor. If its popping out of gear and you have verified the shifter is in proper order,,,,, that tranny is vey Ill!

Anthony is good with those trannys. He's built a ton of them including the one in that 1,000 whp twin turbo Z06 he built, and he's going to help me build mine when the time comes...which shouldn't be too much longer I'm afraid. Parts are pretty damn expensive, syncros are around $600 alone!

btw, I drove that Z and it shifts great and it's still rockin after about a year of abuse.
