Started a new thread on this because I have tried everything on the old one. I am having problems with a vacuum leak. I finally found my intake was hitting on my water pump before it was even torqued down. I decided to take a little metal off the casting of the water pump. I found the contact spots. I was then very conservitive in the amount I took off. I put it all back together last night and fired it up. No vacuum leak noise. Great I thought I had finally got it after the 4th time pulling it off and rechecking everything. I drove around for about 30 minutes when I started to notice a little whistle while decelerating. By the time I got back home it was a full time whistle. It is like when everthing gets warmed up good I develop the leak. I got my mechanics mirror out and looked under the throttle body where the intake goes over the water pump and found it is still hitting. I am going to take it apart one more time spray some Dikem layout fluid on it to find the high spots again. Then remove some more metal. Yes I did use locktite blue on all the manifold bolts so I am sure nothing came loose. I made up a fixture from the other thread to pressurize the manifold this morning while the car was cold and couldn't find any leaks. Does anyone have any other ideas? It is a 1997 C5. If this doesn't work I am going to tear the whole new intake apart and put all new seals in it. I have never ever had this much problem installing an intake in my life.
