I am only asking if someone has already done this. If you have not done this and do not know, please don't feel the need to respond.
I have a CD changer that was given to me and am thinking about installing it in my 99 Vert. The manuel shows it placed in the center trunk compartment. It it did not have one, but would the wire still have been run back there or not? If not, then I will need to look at wiring from the radio to the back if I want to install it. I know I should just look myself, but if I did that I would not have the time to sit here and ask. Thanks
I have an 02 ZO6 and they do not come with CD Changers. If you do not have a changer, you will need to order the cable and run it from the front to the rear on the passengers side. The cable is available thru various sources. It connects in the passengers foot well near the fuse box to two small connectors. One is taped to the harness and is a little difficult to see:
You can see the cable in this picture. Its the darker smaller cable:
I have a couple of other pictures of the connectors in the foot wall. PM me your e-mail address and I will send them to you.
The bracket for the changer is not very fun to mount either. I drilled two thru holes and used nuts on the outside back of the floor pan. It worked excellent.
If I remember correctly, the cable is called a COHAR cable.
I have a CD changer that I got for free and thought if I could hook it up inexpensively it would be ok, but I saw the wire hook-up on ebay for $65, so its probably better to just go with a set-up for my Iphone instead. But thats why I posted this, to check it out. If it had been a $20 hook-up for the CD, that would have been ok, but it doesn't look that way. But, thanks for all of useful help on this. Better than me digging around the trunk looking for a possible wire hook up that was not there. Looks like Ipod is the way! Thanks all.
