So driving home from Gingerman Raceway after this seasons last track day, I had a bit of an accident.
While on I80, with cars on either side me I noticed a large object in the middle of the road. I had no choice but to hit it, there was no time to stop. WHAM!!!!!
At first, all seemed ok. I wasn't far from home, so I just kept moving. After getting off the highway, I could hear an exhaust leak....and I just knew it.
Got home, jacked the car up, and wouldn't ya know.... Whatever it was I hit SMASHED the drivers side header. Completely collapsed one of the tubes, and put a hole in the collector.
The worst part? These headers are only 2 months old. LG Street series. What a bad day..... I'm pissed!!
That truly sucks, and I'm sorry for your misfortune. I can't blame you for wanting to vent! Hopefully everything will be able to be fixed up as good as new. I certainly don't miss driving on I80 - just too much traffic !!
sucks, my LG has some battle wounds too, thats my only issue with them, they sit lower so the O2s clear. vs others that need to just "massage" the tunnel plate for clearance instead
Dependent on your deductible, might be worth submitting an insurance claim.

I looked in to this. Anthony at LG is gracious enough to only sell me one header, which is equal to about what my deductable is. Plus, I don't want a collision claim to show up on the Carfax report for my car.
Besides the money, it's a real bit*h of a job. I'm not looking forward to replacing it. Hopefully it'll be easier the second time. It'll be a winter project, the car is now in storage.
