Ok, so last week, I flipped my wipers on then right back off and they just kept going. Only one speed (low), and the only way I got them to stop was to remove the fuse. Did some research, assumed it was a bad motor attributable to clogged drain holes. Ordered the motor from the local auto parts store, yadda yadda yadda... fast forward to tonight:
got the new motor installed, haven't mounted the wipers yet, but motor and transmission mechanism are in. Put the fuse back in, insert key, wipers go nonstop still, but now they have two speeds... WTF? as soon as the key is in, it appears they are in "low" mode, even with the wiper switch in the off position. intermittent mode works the same (no intermittent use; they just stay in the "low" speed setting). Flipping the switch up to "high" produces a noticeable increase in the rotation of the axles... Surely the blades don't have to be on the mechanism to keep them from working, so what is my problem? I need you guys to come through for me tonight! This is my daily driver, and I have a lab at 8am!
i am having the same issue right now. every time i start the car the wipers start going, even with the switch off. when i turn the wheel to take a hard right, they stop, then go back on when i straighten the wheel. i was thinking it was the wiper switch itself maybe going to ground.
