So we all have these older C5's. And, if you are like me you see your reflection in the shiny paint. It drives so nicely. I try to keep everything perfect.

Problem is that the thing is 10 years old and all the subtly corrosion creeps in to the electrical stuff. I think by now I have replaced every sensor (oil pressure, cam position, TPM, flywheel, temp, etc). And sometime in the next few years the computer will totally die. The thing is just not made to last 20 years.

I guess, realistically, that's why clean used C5s with reasonable miles are selling for well under $15K. And this low price is why I'm not selling mine.

It is the same with all modern cars. Nature of the beast. Will get even worse as newer technologies are built into future cars.

I'm stoked on my 2000, ya it's 10 years old and I'm having to do some repairs on it, but it still looks good, and goes fast. And you cant beat the payment (Zero) and with Registration under $200 I'm gonna drive
it as long as I can.

You need to do more than just keep the paint shiny. Clean the engine compartment regularly, as well as the undercarriage. Keep your grounds clean and use bulb grease on the connections. The truth of the matter is, vettes do much better than other cars, fiberglass and aluminum do not rust and the frame is'nt in direct contact to road debris.
