I am considering doing this upgrade. I have an Optima Red Top and it has both TOP and SIDE terminals. The stock harness of course connects to the side terminals on the battery, but is it OK to just ADD the 0/1 Gauge Big 3 wires to the TOP TERMINALS IN ADDITION to the stock harness on the sides? Would this cause any problems using ALL 4 TERMINALS?
I did mine last year too. One good tip I found here was there is a unused bolt hole at the front of the passenger side head you can use for your engine to frame ground. It's a short run over to the frame and your done with one of your big three. I did 4 gauge myself and saw my volts go from about 14.1 to 14.5.

i would reccomend 4 gauge....i did 0 gauge but i have read that it is kinda overkill
I understand that a FUSE is optional between the Alternator and the Positive Battery connection. If I add that, what Amperage should I buy?
I had a spare fuse holder and 60 amp fuse and I tried it out. 6 months later and the fuse is still ok. From other places I have read they say 150 amp fuse.
Oh and I tried to blow it by cranking the stereo, heater on, wipers going, headlights on and everything else I could reach and it was still ok. I guess it's splitting the load between that and the stock wiring just fine.
