Hello everyone I have a 2000 C5 I just bought the FOB about yr ago car went into the shop for 3 months to have a new heart transplant get it back and my FOB'S wont work. I put new batterys in both of them I sync them and the ywork as long as the key is in the car but as soon as I take out the key the yboth dont work. I went by Autozone the have a FOB Tester and they transmit fine but the car wont work with them do I need new ones or what please help tired of having to use the keys all the time to lock and unlock TIA
Did you do this procedure after your battery was removed?
To match transmitters to your vehicle:
1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver
Information Center (DIC) by pressing the
RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times
until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold
the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed,
push the RESET button once. The message
HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB in the DIC
will be displayed.
5. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
the transmitter simultaneously for 15 seconds.
6. When a transmitter is learned (matched), the DIC
will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you
to learn the next transmitter.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for each additional transmitter.
8. Remove the key from the ignition.
The programming mode will shut off if:
You don’t program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition.
You have programmed three transmitters.
Battery Replacement
Under normal use, the battery in your remote keyless
entry transmitter should last about 18 months.
You can tell the battery is weak if the transmitter won’t
work at the normal range in any location. If you have to
get close to your vehicle before the transmitter works,
it’s probably time to change the battery.
NOTICE:
When replacing the battery, use care not to
touch any of the circuitry. Static from your body
transferred to these surfaces may damage
the transmitter.
Have you tried just holding down lock and unlock @ the same time?
If you do this for a few seconds (3 or 5?) the horn should honk/lights flash..
The procedure above is for re-learning a completely new fob...the lock/unlock @ the same time is a 're-sync' procedure to be used after replacing the battery for example.
That's a symptom of a bad fob. If you have soldering skills, you might try resoldering connections inside. Another troubleshooting method is to borrow a fob from a 98 thru 2000 and program your car to it. Of course the passive won't work in the earlier fobs, but the are compatible with the 2000. For some reason there are a lot of 2000 that have had the exact symptoms you have.

Okay I was wondering if I could try something else I have a 2000 Silverado Pickup and have a aftermarket alarm system but I still have the stock FOB'S FOR IT
And yes have mad soldering skills but didnt find any loose chips and the 1 fob is only 8 months old the other is org. and it used to work is thier anything a techII could do is thier something in the cars programming that could have been turned off or something IDK
No, it's programmed through the DIC, as you know. I'm not sure if the pickup fob is the same. Check the FCC number on the back. Another Vette fob would let you know for sure. Did you resolder the legs of the small square IC (4 legs)? I have heard of that being an issue. I'm still betting on the 2000 fob.

I have not soldered anything on these but I will look close to see if the small ic is loose or broken thanks
