Default Addendum to Headlight Gear Replacement !!!!!!!!!!

For all of you older c-5 owners (97-00), this is of utmost importance
if you plan on replacing the gears in your headlghts.

DO NOT CRANK DOWN on the 3 (1/4)in. bolts that
hold the gear cover onto the motor. They break very easily.
Also take extra care removing them. If the bolt seems like it doesn't want to move, don't **** it off and try to force it, she will just ruin your
day. Use some "Power Lube" or "Knoc-r-Loose" first. If you break one,
maybe you might get away with only two bolts and a good amount of epoxy adhesive, but if you break two... your beat! Off to the salvage yard for you to find another motor.

Also, "Power Lube" the adjustment bolts before you put it all back together so you can align your lights. Another one of these, "if you force it, you'll break it" situations.

BTW, this was also a cheap plug for CRC and their products... wife made me do it

I just did both gears last week, luckily I did not have the problem with stubborn bolts. I just removed the black trim piece and the painted cover which gave me enough room to get the motor out. I also didn’t try to get to the pesky connectors, just did the repair with it sitting on the fender well. This all works if you don’t have gorilla hands!
