Default Re use intake and TB gaskets?

Hi all,

Just a quick question. I have a new intake for the Vette and was wondering if I need new gaskets for the intake/head and TB surfaces?

I'm pretty sure I have read that they are re-usable but wanted to double check.

Thanks!!

I'd definitely get new intake manifold gaskets, as the originals will be smashed down permanent to some degree. I just did an R&R on my intake, so saw how the originals will be semi compressed permanently. Last thing you want to do is have to remove the intake again because of a gasket leak.

The TB gasket seems to be fine for reuse IMO.

You can get FEL-PRO intake gasket kit from local parts stores for around $25. Lots of guys use the FEL-PROs.

From my experience you can reuse GM gaskets if they are low mile. Expensive to replace around $75/set.

Felpro is 1/3rd cost but a few never lay flat when trying to reuse. But considering the cost, you can buy several sets compared to a set of GM.

I'd buy new Felpro intake ports, reuse the GM tb gasket and call it a day.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pick up a set of Felpro's just to be safe.

I've seen it go both ways and even seen new TB gaskets not seal so I always replace them and even then check for leaks.

Why take the chance???? I paid $24 for my Felpro gaskets at Autozone. Pay $24 or take a chance and have to pull the manifold off again.
