Default LS2 404ci build

Hi guys
I just wanted to make a new thread about my first home build

here is my Vette
C5 2003 50th anniversary convertible whith complete Z06 suspension and drivetrain and MN6 gearbox
LS2 402ci NA

best 1/4mile time so far is 11.16@126 but that was whith bad top pistons rings on 4 pistons, had a lot of blowby was 20% less compression on them 4 cylinders then on the others.....
The reason for that is last spring i had a bad knock so bad it broke one of my piston and made a deep crack in one.
It also looks like in two other pistons a small piece from the broken piston had hammered them a lot.
but for some reason i can´t understand i juste swapped out that 4, but that was a mistake because the rings was crushed/hammered on them all

And then after few months of driving and some drag racing with alot of blowby i spun a bearing!!

so the engine had to come out

but what i saw was this: a crack in my Crank, seems like a little piece broke out of the small crack and then offcourse the bearing was gone that my guess !!

And i saw the piston where all scratched too and the sleaves had bad marks in them.....
My motor was trashed.....

All the top rings on the 4 pistons that had not been swapped out was like this

So i went whith the block to my local machine shop
they did a .005" clean up on the sleaves (didn´t wante to take more off)
And ordered from Jon@TSP New pistons (.005" bigger) Wiseco 4.010" -10cc, and i needed two new rods they where damadged after the bearings
The Crank i got claimed.
TSP helped me out there, but i needed new ballance for it offcourse, so TSP arranged that for me too.
and then i bought all new bearing and gaskets!!!

So it´s time for building me a 404ci

LS2 block after clean up

Pre assembly, check bearing clerance

Had one here build me a Tourq-plate

gaped the rings for NOS

Final clean up for the final assembly

NEW Eagle 4340 steel crank 4.00" stroke install

New TSP Wiseco 4.010" -10cc dish pistons + Eagle H-beam rods 6.125"

Wiseco GFX steel top ring 2nd napier

Shortblock´s asembly finished LS2 404ci

CAM install TSP TX-Giant 248/254 . 615" 622" 114LSA (110ICT)

blocks covers on and LS7 lifters and liftertrays....

oil pan

ARP head studs

Doubled checked the PVC

Bolt on the Trick Flow 215cc heads 59cc opened up to 4" for bigger bore and the Harland sharp rockers 1.7

FAST 92mm ported intake LS2 90mm TB ported (gt500 bosch 53lbs injectors)

LS2 404ci Longblock Ready=D>

so no i need to find time to throw it into the car v

I love engine builds. The pictures give me a stiff feeling.
Good luck with the built.
What crank did you use?
How much hp are you guessing?

I'm looking for a cheap engine myself to transform to a 427.

Are you talking about rebuild cost or?
If so, it was round $ 1300 for parts i ordered from +shipping + Machine shop here in Iceland

New pistons and rings: around $790
2X new Eagle H-beam Rods: $160
Eagle Crank : $0 (got it claimed)
rotating ballance in USA : $225
gaskets and bearings

Machine work here in Iceland was $550 (was expensive)
(boring/honing/cleanup)

So this is around $2200 in cost whith shipping (shipping is expensive to Iceland)
And i do "all" other work my self

In 2009 i bought the TSP LS2 402 shortblock + camshaft for well over $6000, but i sold the old 346ci shortblock for around $3000
