...a C5 that they've installed C6 Z06 shocks and C6 Z51 sway bars? Just ordered these for my FE1 suspension 04 coupe from Gene Culley and was looking for some input as to what to expect from the swap. Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
I put that exact setup on my 97 base coupe -- amazing difference - handling is just right -- stiffer but not too stiff and corners MUCH flatter(daily driver). Also eliminated the rear end float over dips/bumps. Its an easy install and more than worth the $$ and effort. I had run a track day on the stock setup and then did one after -- huge improvement.
Just finished a conversion on my dad's C-5...a matter of hours ago. He drove mine and wanted the same setup. C6 Z06 shocks and C6 Z51 sway bars. The car handles much better and drives tighter! Easy for even the most novice person with little mechanical skills!
You can't go wrong with the this inexpensive upgrade! I highly recommend!
Thanks for the input fellas. Parts should be here week from today. One of the guys at our shop is a former GM tech and he's gonna do the install. I'll report back and let you know how it goes. Prosit !!
OK, I'm back with a report. Got the shocks and sways in yesterday and installed last night. Took all of about an hour and a half. Totally different car now. Handles and rides great. Hats off to Gene Culley at GM Parts House. Prosit !!
Souds like it worked out very well for you. The previous owner put same setup on my car so I don't know how it felt when stock before the upgrade but all I do know is I like the way this car drives - planted well but not bumpy or jarring at all. Very smooth and confident feeling at speed.
