I have a 98 C5. Had to jump start it a few weeks ago after it had been sitting for a while. Washed it and put it in the garage for the winter (up state NY). Last week I tried to start it and again the battery was dead. Put a battery tender Jr on it and left it for a few days. I tried it yesterday and it started no problem. Tried it today and just get a click. Battery shows 12.86 at the battery, the DIC in the car shows 11.8 volts. Battery is a 4 yr old Interstate that I usually disconnect in the winter but decided to use a tender on it this year. Wondering if it is the starter? Might try and jump start it tomorrow and see if the works. Any ideas?
I agree. Sounds like the battery is done. Just ran into an issue with someone's truck...static voltage was 12.56 which is getting down there. Load test was bad. Replaced it, no further problems.
I'll get the battery load tested this weekend. Found a recent post from another Member with a 99 C5. His problem was a loose soloneoid connection from the battery. Will check that depending on what the load test shows.
Usually the cells in the battery start to die over the years, and may even produce a hydrogen-sulfide smell (the smell of fart ) inside your cabin due to battery leak
Well, went to the garage today and gave the car a try. Instantly fired right up. Started several times. Thinking it may be the starter (flat spot?). Wires at the solenoid seem to be tight, as much as I can tell from the top w/o getting under the car.
