Also shop around the price on some of the stuff you have listed is high. JW sales the Vararam's for $250 and you can get XS-Power LT's and x-pipe for $900ish

Dont waste your money on the BBK TB, save up for a cam before you get the FAST intake. get longtubes instead of shorties.

What are you looking for as far as power? Do you want a rough idle or stock idle? I run a MS3 cam in mine. It has a very rough idle. The low end isnt very good but at 3K its kicks in very hard. Auto or 6 speed?

It all depends on the driver. Bolt on's and a decent size cam will give you a very nice little jump. Check out Texas-Speed's cams. I would say something in the 230's with .600ish lift on a 113/114 LSA would be pretty good for you.

I do all my work myself but the tuning, so I am not really sure on the install. The tune should be around $450-$550. Putting a cam in isnt hard at all.

Check out the RSD short shifter. 3.90 gears are good too.

If you have the money get the LG's. Most LT's dyno around 5hp of each other. My cheap headers have been on for over 3 years and I haven't had a single problem.

David, the guys above have good inputs.
Sounds like you want a good street machine. If you want to get the most enjoyment from your $3k, you might consider the following, in order of installment:

- Vararam - lousy quality but good results.
- Longtube headers with highflow cats and x-pipe - Kooks are great quality and fit, but cost more. LG's also fit very well and look awesome for quite a bit less $$, probably best bang for the buck (and he's right down the road from you!).
- Reasonable cam - something in the 220 duration range for durability, torque and driveability. Upgraded springs, and maybe chain, oil pump, pushrods at your discretion.
- Underdrive pulley when you install the cam.
- Shaner ported Throttle body - good street response.
- Good quality tune.
- Shifter - pick one from the reviews herein.

This should add approx 100 400RWHP, and still have good reliability, driveability, and tons of street torque.

If you still have $$ left, a set of ported heads and 3.90 gears can expand your fun even further. But, save some $$ for tires!

Get a 3.90 diff, it'll make the car feel as though you gained forty hp. And no reliability issues. Add a street sensible catback for a little rumble, zip tie air filt mod and a good tune. Happy car/ happy driver

I would suggest to get longtubes and a cold air intake for your 1st round of mods. Along with a good dyno tune you will gain roughly 30-35rwhp. See how you like that and then decide if you want to go further. If you want to jump right in I suggest a medium sized cam, TSP 228R or something similar. If your still looking for more the FAST intake you mentioned will get you about 15-20 more on top of the cam. If that isn't enough well my friend your hooked and get ready to open your wallet

Here is a general breakdown for a C5 Z06 as var as power levels go.

Stock - 345-360RWHP

Bolt-Ons - 370RWHP-395RWHP

Cam - 415RWHP-460RWHP

Heads/Cam - 440RWHP-500RWHP

It all depends on what your looking for, but for now get the headers/CAI and enjoy the new sound and power. Oh and find a good tuner from the get go.

basically the 3.90 gears improve low end acceleration?

i dont have a z06 lol but i like the reference.

i dont quite have the cash for the cam and tune yet, so im thinking buy the cam now and wait until after i get the headers and intake on to tune it. i dont want to get it tuned without the intake and headers and have to do it again
