I am on my 3rd Corvette and have been a member of Corvettes Western Australia for 12 years. I now have a 2000 C5. I am having problems with the Check engine light.(Staying on) Apparently some of the guys in our club say its a common problem with this model. I have been checking this out with my service guy. The computer says its a rear right 02 sensor. but he swopped them round and turned off the light only for it to come back on an hour or so later. He checked again still shows the same fault, So its not the sensors. We have done this 3 times and the light keeps coming back on after an hour or so of driving.
Anyone know how to rectify this or what else could be causing this. The car has only done 43,000 kls (26,000 miles) and is in pristine condition. Any ideas or has anyone else had this problem...

Run the codes on your DIC and post them here.....They should give you a place to start looking.
I have the same problem except it is the left rear 02 sensor. A new one on the way but not installed yet. My code is p0140 HC indicating a bad sensor. Clearing the code manually works fine for about 1/2 hour of driving and then the light and code comes back. Have you thoroughly cleaned the connection of any dirt and corrosion ?
The rear O2 are really about calculating Catalyst efficiency-since they are so far downstream from the engine, they generally require heating element to get up to temp. Many times the heater is what dies. A decent OBD scanner will allow you to see O2 sensor output, that's the real way to tell what's happening.
