has anyone removed the existing shift **** and installed a hurst shift **** ,(only) removing is no problem,but I do not knif the hurst **** screws in place of it or is there an adapter

The disadvantage of having to use a jam-nut is that the height of the **** may not be ideal unless you have a shorter height short-throw or shortened OEM. An alternative is to use a patternless shift **** that is threaded fully.
