Default LS6 High volume oil pump?

i'm doing a fast 92mm intake and ms4 cam swap into my 2000 FRC shortly, while i'm in there I plan on installing the ls2 timing set and a ls6 oil pump, (and springs, pushrods, tb and tune).

i'm not really sure what to get standard volume and pressure, or a high pressure, or a high volume.

My worries are the high volume could suck the pan dry and the high pressure might not provide adequate volume (to get the higher pressure there must be smaller oriface or restriction)

Anyways what are your thoughts and experience with this matter?

My experience is such that the stock LS oil pump is more than adequate for a street car and even a car that is raced periodically.
I'm sure those who have purchased an after-market pump will give you a butt load of reasons why the OEM pump is a piece of crap, let the begin.

Just keep a stock pump you don't need any stinkin high pressure or hi volume pump.
They just rob HP.

I read i great write up LS1 tech on this very subject. I have an 01ZO6. I ended up buying a new LS6 oil pump for my cam swap. My pump puts out 50+psi cold 42-44hot idle and 60psi at WOT. Why change The only reason im replacing my stock one is bc of the mileage. The ported LS6 oil pump that TSP offers doesnt provide any more volume than the stock one does. Its just higher pressure (shimmed spring). Too much pressure can be a bad thing. IF you decide to go high volume look no further than Melling oil pump part #10296. It provides 18% more flow over a stock pump. The melling 10295 has the SAME OUTPUT (volume) as a stock LS6 oil pump. It just has a slight difference in pressures.

Melling 10296 Hv is what we use in all our engines. Customers send in their ported and shimmed LS6 pumps and without a word of a lie we send them back and do not use them. There is more to a pump than the oil it uses and some of the answers in this thread are just plain misinformed.
