My shifter **** seems to be coming loose on my 2002 C5 automatic. I can't seem to see any kind of set screw or locking screw of some sort. Any ideas on how to tighten up?
For future reference and specifically in this case: In C5 Tech, use search or search this forum (in the red banner) with keywords "removal of automatic transmission ****". Nothing much gets deleted from the archives. This manner will find past threads/replies to almost any question you might have about your C5.
If you pry up the shift pattern plate on the top of the ****, you will see an aluminum key pressed into the **** between the **** and the shift lever. That key is refered to as the DEMOND KEY. Pull the key out, screw the **** down all the way "TIGHT and in the correct orientation) and reinsert the key. Drive it in between the **** and the shift lever. That key keeps it from rotating and loosening.

Try using a very small screwdriver and see if you can catch some of the staple that is holding the **** on. If not, not sure how you will get the shift **** off.
