I'm new to being a c5 owner now and ready to start modding.
I really like the deep flowmaster muscle car sound, but not a big fan of the 80 series. I've seen multiple dyno sheets that prove its restrictive in F bodys... so
I was thinking of making some flowmaster single chambers.
Instead of fabbing everything from scratch, do you think I could simply buy a straight pipe system like this

then just weld in two 2.5 inlet/outlet single chambers into this at the end?
Think there would be enough room for this setup?
Thanks
That muffler looks way to big to fit on a set of straight pipes because there is not much room the way they run, I have the SLP loudmouths.
I do know that the SLP loudmouth II system has a chambered system and is supposed to make a deeper sound without restricting flow much at all.
That's what I was worried about... if I can't find a decent way to fab up flowmaster ill probably go with the borla single chamber or a bullet style.
Anyone know some of the systems with a deep tone?
I dont know about too many other systems but I know that the slp powerflow is fairly deep and kinda like the borla stinger system I think. And the loudmouths are pretty deep that I have and they dont even have chambers on them.
Here is a video of the straight pipes
If you are thinking of making a custom set-up, you might want to consider installing some chambered mufflers in the center tunnel area.
That's what I did and IMO, it's one of the lowest restriction, best sounding exhausts you'll ever find on a C5. I have lots of vids and pictures, shoot me a PM if you're interested.
Why reinvent the wheel. you can buy flowmaster mufflers for the C5 corvette in 80 series. Here's the ordering #'s 525801-L & 525801-R just go to flowmaster.com and order them. They also have all other series available.

You might want to read the thread again He specifically says he doesn't like the 80 series, and that is the only one offered by flowmaster (their website is flowmastermufflers.com btw, the site you mentioned is something else)
If you run those Borla's you will probably have the sound you want. I have them and they are deep and throaty, but still very mellow at cruise and idle.
But if you are looking for the higher tone known to Flowmaster then of course you will need a Flowmaster.
The Borla's do sound great though.
Also, if you want more sound and aren't afraid of the emissions police, you can remove the cats and that will really spruce things up
I am considering running a dual in/out Flowmaster in place of the H-Pipe, but don't think there is enough width in that area. I still have to measure things.

I don't have to worry about emissions so I'm going to be putting on LT's and ORX when I change my catback.
I'm leaning twards the borla stinger now.
I wish I could find some local people with headers and hear their setups before I commit to buying something.
I have borla touring now with everything else stock and its too quiet for me.
