Hi, anyone had their car backfire on initial startup? Pulled codes and there are none. it is now running fine and all seems normal. outside temp was 40 deg.
I've never had that happen to me so if I was you, I think...I would start with looking for air leaks at the air bridge, pcv valve and tube assembly and so on. How many miles on the engine? Mods? Was the car ever tuned? Anything else with running rough suddenly and did anything change immediately before this?

check your fuel pressure/bleed down at the rail.....key on, engine not running.

thanks for the quick replies, it has no mods or tune and 87000 on the clock

initial fuel press at hookup 19 psi, key on hit 60 an slowly went down to 56, engine running steady 58 psi. I have had numerous starts today and spirited driving and still not repeated or thrown any codes.
Backfire out the exhaust or intake? Might consider a compression test. Strange that it runs fine otherwise....I'm not sure at all where to look next. You might need a tuner to examine everything while its running in the various heating up conditions.
I'm wondering if you have a exhaust valve that's hanging up. I'm thinking you could at least do the compression test to be certain its not a valve. If you know which side it was happening on, that would cut the test job in half.
