I was banging through the gears last night, took it close to redline at every upshift. At the top of each gear, I noticed a very significant power drop-off, kind of like the fuel was cut off, but I was not at or past redline, never saw the shift light come on in the HUD. At the moment that I noticed the power drop off, TRAC SYS ACTIVE came on the DIC. Is this Active Handling jumping in? I had COMPETITIVE DRIVING on. I was going in a straight line, so there was no reason for Active Handling to intervene, right??
How can Traction Control be engaged when I was in Competitive Driving mode? If I understand it correctly, CD means TC off and AH on.
Thanks,
You're right - TC should be off if in competitive mode. I suppose there's a chance that it wasn't off. Did you get confirmation on your DIC that you were in comp. mode? You have to hold the console button down for about 5 seconds until you hear the beep and see it confirmed on the DIC.
Assuming you did all that, I would try it again, and if the same problem exists, I'd get it serviced.
OK here's what I found out from the other forum response. Everytime the car is started up, the driving mode defaults to factory settings, which is TC on AH on. That would explain TC intervening and causing the power loss that I experienced. Is there a way to have Competitive Driving mode to stay on all the time?
Rapid Transit there is a box that will make your car default to CD, but AH has saved my butt on a few occasions, AH is invisible to me while street driving unless my rear tires hit some bumps that make them airborne.
I think that it was probably Active Handling, not Traction Control that you feel CPT Z06. Traction Control just chops the throttle, very annoying. Active Handling is a gentle nudge in the right direction when the car get loose. It's an awesome system (in Competition Mode).
