I am sure someone has some information on this, please share.
It was around 20 degrees out if that matters, but the code came up "Active Handling Warming Up" and the traction control light on the dash wouldn't go off.
Pull the codes so we can assist. The "Warming Up' message generally happens if you move the car before all the startup diags have run (at least on mine) and it's cool/cold out.

So the message and light remained for the duration of your drive? How long was it? It's not uncommon for this to occur briefly, but there may be something wrong if it was prolonged.
Normally we associate this message with one or both of two items. Steering out of alignment and/or the steering wheel position sensor starting to die. Now whatever could affect this system from tuning is unknown too me, if it happened because of it...possibly just a coincidence?
I'd wait until it happens again before getting worried. I've seen this message one time, also when it was very cold out 10-15F came up just as I started moving the car. I waited until I got up to 50F oil temps before this. but by the time I was less than a block away from where I started I got another message saying the warmup was complete and the lights went off. I've only seen it that one time.
When the car starts moving 3+mph, the EBCM is looking at wheel speeds Vs. steering wheel position sensor. If your steering wheel is not straight for 60' or so, it will loop back into warm up. Mine had done this every morning forever until I adjusted my first 60' or so after leaving my driveway. Since changing my first 60' of forward travel, it has never done it since.
We did pull the steering rack out to install the cam, so it may have thrown it out of alignment but I wouldn't think it would be that far out to kick a code???

If you move the steering wheel while disconnected from the rack, All bets off as to sensor damage and or missalignment.
The most common cause of the warm up message is due to the driver not letting the car calibrate properly after an engine start. Every time you do an engine start Active Handling is reset and the EBCM does a recalibration to determine when the steering wheel is pointed straight ahead. The calibration sequence occurs when the car gets above 6 mph. To complete calibration the car has to be kept above that speed and driven in a straight line for a couple hundred feet. If you turn the steering wheel before it is calibrated the warm up message is displayed. Usually this message will go away in less than a minute. If the steering wheel is turned to far to one side or the other you usually get steering centering error that will show a code.
As for getting the message during cold weather operation I never saw that happen in 6 years of C5Z ownership. I drove the car many times in weather as cold as 0 degrees and never got a Warming Up message.
Tuning the car doesn't have any affect on the EBCM so that didn't have anything to do with the issue. Since you were working in an area where the EBCM wiring is located you could have damaged the wiring going to the EBCM.
Good info Bill and my experiences confirms your data. It was -12c in Seoul this morning and when I started the Car I got the Warming Up message. I live on a cull de sac so it is difficult to get the straight line input right away. Once I get out to the highway and give some straight steering input within about 30-45 seconds I get the Warm up Complete and the warning lights disappear and remain off. You definitely have to give it some straight ahead input with some speed. AH/TC good on a 2000....Life is GOOD!
