Is the sending unit bad? Its always read at 40, and now after the oil change its sky rocketed.
A sure way to tell if its the pressure sender is to turn the key to run but don't start the car. The pressure should peg out at max without the engine running, then you know the sender is bad. This is a common problem for the C5 and if you search the forum you can get a DIY walkthrough to replace it. Basically two methods, either remove the intake manifold or cut through the fiberglass shroud under the windsheild bezel. I did the cut method on mine and it was pretty easy, believe me if I can do it so can you. If you DIY do youself a favor and buy a new sender with a brass base and either borrow or buy a torque wrench to torque the new sender to no more than 15 lbs. The torque value is very important if you want the new sender to last. Good luck bro!
Almost positively a bad sender. Its a common failure. You'll need to remove the intake to replace it unless you desire to cut a hole through the cowling as some have done. Personally I wouldn't do that but many have. Removal of the intake takes about 15-30 minutes depending on your skill and two pieces of tape for the rear bolts.
