Default 98 missing from 45MPH to 55 MPH when accelerating

My 98 has a problem when accelerating slowly at about 45MPH to about 55 MPH. If I stomp on it it moves out w/o the hessitation/miss. I am not getting any DIC codes related to any engine sensor. I am at a loss to what's up with this. I have about 50K miles on the car and until the past three months I never had any problems with the motor/electrical/sensor systems. It is an auto tranny model convertible.

Any chance that it could be an O2 sensor or a MAF problem? I was hoping to find a code that would point me in the right direction but there's no current codes at all and the only codes showing are HVAC issues, power seat sensor position , and a few communications codes. All are history codes.

Any help will be apreciated.

In that case, you probably need to look for vacuum leaks such as at the PCV valve. Another possibility would be the plug wires themselves. How many miles on your car? Wires ever changed and/or plugs? Clear your codes and see if any come back but make sure you write down which are there now.

Default Car missing

I have about 50K miles on the car. The plugs and wires are orginal, I have no codes relating to the engine or any sensor code that would cause a miss. The car only misses during light acceleration between 45 and 55 MPH.

I did check the hose from the PVC valve to the intake manifold and it seems secure, w/o any leaks that I could detect.

TY for any help.

At 12 years old, I would be replacing those wires anyway. If you haven't already, spray out the MAF with either electrcal parts cleaner or brake cleaner from a spray can. Do not touch the element inside and only do this after the engine is cold. Next, you'll probably need to look at the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and see what you are getting through the RPM range.

TY for the suggestions. Do I need to remove the MAF completely to spray it?

I would remove it as its easy plus you don't need all that spray going into the intake.

You have to remove the MAF from the car, do not shake or jar it.....it's quite sensitive.

My car stumble upon low speed acceleration without any DIC messages etc., but I did get a "Service Engine Soon" lite one time before I removed and cleaned my MAF sensor. Mine had some excess oil from my KN air filter on it. A common problem.

DO NOT use brake cleaner on your MAF sensor. Get a spray can of CRC MAF CLEANER and carefully spray the tiny wires inside the MAF housing, then let it completely air dry.

Good luck

If it is an auto, it could be a torque converter clutch issue.
