Liquid filled pressure gauge question
This is probably a stupid question, but I accidently spilled some of the liquid out of my liquid filled fuel pressure gauge.
Is this going to impact its accuracy at all? It's still 3/4 filled. I just didn't know if it had be to have a precise amount down to the mL in there or not

No the thick liquid is just in there to dampen vibration

just make sure that the gauge is vented. A sealed chamber will expand and contract with alt. and temp. greatly affecting the acuracy.

How can it be vented and sealed?

Good question. All the ones I've ever seen have an air pocket inside to begin with, to allow for temp changes I would presume.

The thick liquid in the gauge is clear glycerin, which is used only to dampen the needle vibration.
It does not affect the accuracy of the gauge.

Cool so if a little spilled out it's not going to be a big deal.

No. If a little spilled it is not a big deal. There should be a small bubble in the liquid anyway for expansion, contraction and temp changge.

All the liquid filled gauges we use on our vacuum systems have a small tit on the rubber fill plug. Before we cut the tit off, the 0-30" HG. gauges are reading 5-8". After we vent them, they are 0". Loosing some of the liquid is bo biggie in fact you can drain them and they read the same.
